NO Eating of Meat in Preparation for the Holy Week

Ash Wednesday is coming up and everyone at my place of work is already planning on what to bring every Friday since most people are going to observe the lent celebration. This is the time of the year when people are not eating any type of meat every Friday for over 6 weeks if I am not mistaken. I am not a follower to this since I have a different religion but since I work with people who practice this type of belief I am planning to make them some California rolls as well as some vegetable and shrimp egg rolls.

I am looking forward to do my grocery shopping at the Asian store so I can get my ingredients ASAP. What about you folks? Do you eat meat during the lent or not? Let me know your thoughts!

Texas is hot in the summer!

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

When I decided to move to Texas from a much more northern state I was concerned about a few things. Will the food be too hot for my delicate little pallete? Will there be saloons on every corner that I can stager up to and walk through the swinging doors? Will there be tumbleweeds in the street and dust all over my cowboy boots? Ok so I didn’t know a whole lot about the state except for what I have seen in old western movies and I definitely had a lot to learn! One of my legitimate concerns was how it gets in Texas during the summer months. I didn’t even have central air conditioning in my old house and it was comfortable in the summer so I was pretty concerned about what it would be like in Texas where you practically combust when you walk out in to the summer heat. I have heard that energy costs are sky high because of the extreme heat but I decided to shop electricity RATES TEXAS to find the best rates.

Beef Jerky

I didn't realize that eating beef jerky can be so addicting especially when you are reading history books. I really love the taste of peppered jerky plus it actually motivates me to continue reading and not fall asleep. Since both my classes are more into reading and book review I have no choice but to look for some outlet to give me motivation to read and learn.

I may not be in the campground right now but I am eating beef jerky and loving it!
